Columbia Dental Care & Associates believes oral cancer screenings are a critical component of every visit to our office. Advances in technology make it easier to pinpoint potential cancer symptoms earlier than in the past. Any potential oral cancer should be treated as quickly as possible before it becomes an irreversible problem.
An oral cancer screening is often completed with an ultraviolet light or a similar device that allows the dentist to view issues that can’t always be detected by the naked eye.
The health of tissues in the mouth can also be affected by the lifestyle choices of the patient. If a patient smokes cigarettes or drinks too much alcohol, regular screenings should be scheduled with every visit.
